omehow I’ve gotten interested in American football. I’m not sure how or why.
It isn’t that I don’t like sports. I follow the English Premier League and watching baseball games is one of my favorite things to do. But American football? I’ve almost always ignored it except for the occasional times as a kid when I’d walk through my parents’ living room where my father was watching a game and I’d get sucked into it. I think that had a lot more to do with wanting to hang out with my father than it did any interest in football itself. I did enjoy watching the game though.
But now my Saturday and Sunday mornings are populated by football games, both college and professional. I’ll watch just about anything although there are some teams I prefer to watch more than others: the Huskies and the Seahawks (of course); Notre Dame and the Cowboys.
I guess I just never pictured myself as the type who would watch football. Am I afraid of a stereotype? Does it diminish my imaginary stature? Doubtful. I think it’s the HDTV. It looks too good. I can’t turn my head away.
I must be really bored to be writing this.
